Marsden & The Colne Valley

Watershed Walks - Passage to the Pennines

This route is available as a podscroll downloadable from here and provides a leisurely stroll around the centre of Marsden to see features of heritage interest such as the pack horse bridge and the town stocks which mark the old centre of Marsden. Many of the pubs that are such a feature today, in the past did a roaring trade providing accommodation for textile buyers as well as being social centres in past times.  Today they are re-inventing themselves selling locally brewed real ale and food.  Marsden Mechanics Institute today houses the public library and meeting rooms, well used by the busy community, while train, rail and canal all link Marsden in to the wider world.
