Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd & The Calder Valley

Pennine Way Todmorden, Hebden Bridge and Widdop

The Pennine Way was the first National Trail developed in England, and snakes over the South Pennines on its way north to Colne. From Blackstone Edge northwards the trail keeps to the higher ground, skirting the reservoirs above Walsden and picking its way on a flagged path across the moorland.  This walk takes you to the amazing monument at Stoodley Pike (where you can climb inside the tower).  From here you can see the Grade 1 listed Town Hall in Todmorden and even hear the train hoot as it passes in the valley far below. Stay on the Pennine Way and walk down into the market town of Hebden Bridge for food, drink, trains, buses and shops.  A steep climb out of Hebden takes you up to Widdop and a well earned rest at The Packhorse.
