Diggle & Delph

The little moorside settlements which together make up the township of Saddleworth are famous for the brass band festivals which take place here every Whit Friday. The Dovestone reservoir is a great starting point for walks into the Peak District national park moorlands. One popular choice is the horseshoe ridge walk round Chew Brook to the Dove stones themselves.

The Pots and Pans Stones, high above Uppermill, are another popular destination. Further north, Castle Shaw roman fort is worth exploring: why not carry on from Castle Shaw to pick up the Pennine Way at Millstone Edge?
